Position Title: Associate Attorney

Reports To: Partner


Responsibilities:

  • Build case defenses and trial themes autonomously
  • Support national trial and coordinating counsel team to manage litigation nationwide for large corporate clients 
  • Analyze the application of state and federal case and regulatory law to the facts of cases for pre-trial motions and other submissions
  • Draft original motions and other litigation-related documents on complex matters
  • Draft discovery requests and responses to be exchanged with various parties
  • Interview potential and preparing witnesses for testimony in litigation or before regulatory bodies 
  • Take and defend lay, expert, and corporate representative depositions
  • Argue motions
  • Develop client relationships through oral and written communication
  • Draft pre-trial reports and performing risk analysis
  • Participate in mediations and/or court-mandated status, settlement conferences and hearings
  • Develop overall strategies for case resolution and Solve problems creatively 
  • Identify, assign and supervise work for case paralegals
  • Interact and potentially managing outside co-defense counsel to negotiate global discovery strategies 
  • Negotiate settlements with plaintiffs and other opposing parties
  • Participating in networking opportunities to develop client relationships
  • Demonstrate leadership in the local community through memberships in bar associations and other organizations
  • Develop oneself as a resource for other attorneys involved in the firm’s practice areas
  • Provide support and assistance to Shareholders, Partners, and Senior Counsel
  • Must meet annual billable requirements and adhere to the Attorney Timekeeping Policy.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school 
  • Requires admittance to at least one state bar
  • Self-motivated individual with high energy willing to do whatever it takes to complete responsibilities on deadline 
  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience in a law firm 
  • Experience in billable work environment
  • Experience in mass-torts, class actions, environmental, commercial litigation, abuse, harassment and discrimination, or other complex risk management experience required
  • Client service oriented and experience required
  • Effectively prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and other colleagues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor
  • Superior written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrates personal awareness and desire for continued personal and professional development FileVine or Document Management system experience is preferred
