ASSOCIATE POSITION DESCRIPTION


HL Law Group, a merit-based Plaintiffs’ law firm seeks associate attorneys with experience litigating first party property insurance claims. The firm seeks lawyers who combine excellent client service skills with legal acumen and analytic ability. Candidates must possess strong, persuasive oral advocacy, excellent writing skills, experience taking and defending depositions, and handling motion practice. Candidates will manage a high-volume case load, litigation and settlement. They will apply excellent case management skills to organize multiple files and report to clients regularly on the progress of their claims. Associates manage a team of legal professionals and must display judgment, team skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.


 


 

Role and Responsibilities



  • Manage a team, including a dedicated pre-suit legal assistant, a litigation case manager and a scheduler

  • Organize and manage high-volume case load of property insurance claims in pre-litigation and in litigation

  • Build strong client relationships, based on in-person meetings as well as ongoing communication by telephone and email

  • Generate high-quality work product: conduct discovery and draft substantive motions, pleadings, responses and legal memoranda

  • Generate frequent status emails and phone contacts; respond to client communication on a timely basis, within 24 hours

  • Handle all aspects of motion practice; be pro-active about moving cases forward

  • Take and defend depositions; attend hearings, depositions, EUOs, mediations, and jury trials, as required

  • Serve as effective oral advocate

  • Negotiate Settlements and obtain excellent results for HL Law Group


 


Qualifications and Requirements



  • Member of the Florida Bar in good standing

  • Minimum of 2 years Civil Litigation experience, preferably in Property Insurance Litigation or another type of insurance litigation

  • Skilled at evaluating and analyzing property damage insurance claims

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Desire and ability to build long-term client relationships through frequent phone, email and in-person contact; responding to communication on a timely basis, but no later than 24 hours, is a critical aspect of this position

  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively

  • Strong computer skills

  • Experience with jury trials (preferred)

  • Experience in federal court (preferred)
