The Goosmann Law Firm is looking for an experienced Banking and Financial Services Attorney. As a member of our Bankruptcy, Banking and Financial Services Litigation Practice Group, the team member will represent financial institutions, commercial lenders, creditors, borrowers and other interested parties in consumer and commercial finance transactions and litigation. A successful candidate for this position will consistently provide excellent advice and guidance to our clients on a variety of banking, finance, and regulatory legal matters. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience handling complex litigation matters and providing solid trial advocacy.

In addition, Goosmann Law Firm helps its clients resolve disputes arising under Divisions 3, 4, and 4A of the Uniform Commercial Code, the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Reg E), Expedited Funds Availability Act (Reg CC), Bank Secrecy Act, FCRA, RFDCPA, FDCPA, RESPA (Reg X), TILA (Reg Z), and UDA(A)P Claims.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Legal & Client Matters
- Advise financial institutions and commercial lenders in the increasingly complex environment in which they operate.
- Assist and manage a multitude of financial lending transactions, such as commercial and consumer financing, bank loans and asset-based transactions.
- Structure transactions to help protect client’s commercial interest.
- Negotiate and document contractual relationships between lenders and borrowers.
- Represent clients in complex corporate and consumer bankruptcy cases, debt restructurings and related litigation matters.
- Handle and manage commercial and consumer financial services litigation defense.
- Handle and manage complex litigation and regulatory enforcement matters.
- Handle and manage debt collections on behalf of financial institutions, commercial lenders, and businesses.
- Counsel financial institutions to ensure that they are compliant and act within state and federal regulations.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, and court documents.
- Research case law, and state and federal statutes that correlate with ongoing litigation matters.
Supervision
- Supervise paralegals, staff, and team members as required
General
- Active in business development, including involvement in professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Experience
- 3-7 years of relevant in-house and/or law firm experience as an attorney with a strong interest in Banking and Finance law.
- Preferred: 5+ years of specific subject matter experience, drafting, and client advising. First chair trial experience; or complex litigation experience.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Must be currently licensed in Nebraska and Iowa; or currently eligible to become licensed to practice law in Iowa and Nebraska.
