This position provides technical support and assistance to our Creditors' Rights & Bankruptcy team in the area of bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and loan restructuring.  Works with bankruptcy and finance teams to prepare and file pleadings, draft correspondence and agreements, draft and coordinate commercial foreclosures, and manage caseloads. Provides timely, accurate, and reliable data to bankruptcy and restructuring teams, and works proactively.  Maintains positive interaction with end-users to ensure optimal support and assistance.  This is a full time onsite or hybrid position, five days per week, that will require overtime on occasion.  This position will perform other duties as assigned.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Maintains advanced knowledge of Firm applications, with an emphasis on litigation and bankruptcy support tools, including but not limited to, Adobe, PACER, iManage, ecf systems, county filing systems, and such other programs that the Firm may acquire to assist with litigation support.

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of basic workflow, process, and requirements of the Firm’s bankruptcy team.

  • Works with legal teams to provide assistance on all phases of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation, including garnishment, basic creditors’ rights pleadings, and bankruptcy pleadings,

  • Works with bankruptcy and restructuring team to evaluate support needs and mange caseloads.

  • Provides guidance and expertise to clients and bankruptcy and restructuring teams on bankruptcy, foreclosure, creditors’ rights, and restructuring documents.

  • Applies quality control processes and improvements.

  • Documents and tracks all project tasks, media, and costs for each project.

  • Seeks guidance and input from supervising attorneys or Office Administrator when needed, and keeps team apprised of current workload and issues.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a paralegal and/or bankruptcy and/or restructuring support person

  • Advanced knowledge of software and hardware.

  • Understanding of the bankruptcy and state court creditors’ rights litigation process, current industry standards, and best practices relating to electronic discovery.

  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, written communication, and customer service skills required. Ability to communicate well with users of different skill levels.

  • Requires the ability to use standard arithmetical functions; sufficient mathematical ability to prepare and manage a complex budget.

  • Requires the ability to read financial reports, legal documents, and legal reports; prepare and present comprehensive presentations, participate in formal discussions, communicate extemporaneously, and communicate before an audience.


Education:



  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in paralegal studies or BA/BS with a Paralegal Certification preferred

Hours / Schedule / Location:



  • 37.5 hours per week / Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM / Portland Office office

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires regular and predictable attendance

  • Infrequent travel may be required for cross-office projects

  • This position reports directly to the Paralegal Manager and the practice team leaders of the Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights’ team

  • This position will require both remote and on-site work. The employee will need to have internet access and a space to work; Lane Powell will provide a laptop and all necessary technology.


Salary Range:



  • $85,000 - $113,000 Annually
