Hooks, Meng & Clement are seeking a highly organized and experienced billing department manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the billing operations of the firm, including managing a team of billing clerks and ensuring that all billing processes are accurate, efficient, and in compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards. The Billing Manager will work directly with the Director of Finance and the firm’s partners on all financial, bookkeeping, billing, and accounting operations.Β 

  • Manage a team of billing clerks and ensure that all billing processes are accurate and efficient
  • Oversee the preparation and issuance of invoices to clients, ensuring that all billing information is up-to-date and accurate
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve any billing discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate billing records and files, including client information and invoices
  • Respond to billing inquiries from clients, partners, and staff
  • Prepare reports and financial statements as needed
  • Ensure that all billing procedures are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with the firm's partners and other departments to improve processes and resolve issues.
  • Mentor and train billing clerks and support their professional development
  • Work with the client’s accounting department to resolve any billing inquiries
  • Ability to manage a team and resolve conflicts
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and billing software programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
  • Able to produce a high-quality work product while handling multiple projects and deadlines
  • Precise and detailed in keeping with accounting standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • At least two years of billing experience, preferably in a law firm environment
