Our BD & Marketing department has an excellent opportunity for a Biographer on the Communications team. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Communications Manager. The Biographer is responsible for the development, production and maintenance of all Firm attorney biographies to ensure they are up to date and consistent with Firm style and standards. In addition, the Biographer will prepare announcements of new attorneys arriving at the Firm and will provide support to other writers as necessary.

Β Responsibilities:



  • Conduct thorough interviews with attorneys to obtain appropriate information for biographies.

  • Develop, write, edit and proofread all attorney biographies.

  • Input developed biography into Content Pilot, the online repository for Firm biographies.

  • Prepare internal lateral announcement communications for lateral attorneys.

  • Proactively maintain accuracy and completeness of biographies on website.

  • Stay abreast of Firm practice group priorities and activities, as well as news and current events related to the Firm, such as victories, deal announcements, industry awards or rankings, and update biographies accordingly.

  • Ensure consistency of biographic information across all Firm communication platforms.

  • Support and back up the Firm’s writers when necessary.

  • Other duties as requested and assigned.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience. Law firm or professional services experience is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency with HTML and WordPress. Proven aptitude to learn new software applications.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills both oral and written. Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills. Top grammatical skills and a strong adherence to editorial guidelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. Outstanding creativity; flexibility and persistence; motivation and energy with the ability to work with little supervision and collaborate with other members of the team.

  • Ability to speak effectively with all levels of clients and professional and support staff. Interpersonal communication skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with partners, attorneys, clients and staff, and to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy and professionalism in these interactions.

  • Ability to work overtime when needed. Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. A tolerance for uncertainty and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Must be able to perform essential duties of the position with time constraints and interruptions.
