The Business Development Analyst – Restructuring is responsible for originating and sourcing new business opportunities for the Firm’s global Restructuring practice area and lawyers. This role also supports business development initiatives across the Restructuring practice, including pitches, proposals, analysis about clients, competitors, markets and industries, related internal business and related work product maintaining the Firm’s high standard of excellence. This role supports the implementation efforts of strategic plans to ensure successful growth and consistency regarding the Firm’s key business initiatives.
Originate and source business opportunities, including through developing a system for monitoring and screening companies for markers of potential financial distress or need for advice on recapitalizations, reorganizations, exchange offers, distressed mergers and acquisitions or raising debt and equity capital using CapIQ, Bloomberg, Credit Cloud and/or other financial databases
Examine and analyze corporate structures, including assets, liabilities encompassing both secured and unsecured debt, income and expenditures to determine the viability of the business
Conduct in-depth valuation, due diligence and credit analysis
Analyze client’s and competitor’s market trends relevant to law firm financial restructuring practices
Provide strategic analysis of capital structures and work with the partners, Special Situations and Restructuring teams to evaluate and structure customized financing alternatives/solutions
Build relationships and maintain direct contact with clients, prospective clients, bankers and financial and other professional advisors
Organize and lead weekly group meetings/calls, attending internal and external meetings and conference calls and preparing reports and analyses
Collaborate with Business Development team, Knowledge Management team and Partners to prepare marketing and transaction proposals, participating in and leading client meetings and presentations
Assist with projects and initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Business Development Officers and Director of Strategic Intelligence (as applicable)

Education
Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Finance, Business or other quantitative field
At least 5+ years of work experience in corporate restructuring, investment or commercial banking, and/or consulting or corporate positions with a financial or accounting focus, 4+ years of which is direct restructuring experience
An in-depth knowledge and understanding of high yield, stressed, distressed and special situations opportunities
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment working with Partners, multiple seniority levels and departments
Ability to produce investment ideas and subsequently present both internally and externally to partners, clients, potential clients, bankers and financial and/or other professional advisors
Strong track record in financial analysis skills
Origination and sourcing of new business through the maintenance and building of relationships in the market
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing
Ability to interact well and build professional relationships while maintaining a high level of customer service, diplomacy and discretion
Ability to proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver results
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, CapIQ, Bloomberg, Credit Cloud and/or other financial databases
Strong project management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment
Strong attention to detail
Flexibility to adapt to all work situations and work varied hours
Ability to make decisions and remain calm under pressure
Salary Information
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
