Summary






The Business Intelligence Strategy Senior Analyst (BI Strategy Sr. Analyst) works extensively with the Firm’s IT and Accounting organizations to deliver business solutions and facilitate the financial information and reporting needs of the Firm. This role will be responsible for supporting the identification, analysis, requirement gathering/documentation, and testing of  digital financial reporting solutions. The BI Strategy Sr. Analyst role provides an opportunity to participate in creative solutions that contribute to the transformation of data into insight to support ongoing management and decision making at all levels of the firm. This position specifically allows for the unique opportunity to perform data analysis, define end-user reporting and information needs, and deliver needed information via Financial System applications, allowing the individual to create an extensive functional and technical knowledge base.









Duties and Responsibilities






  • Work with the Business units, including management, to analyze business processes and define requirements of technical solutions, including report, data warehouse and application development.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and manage business intelligence solutions and facilitate effective communication of business requirements for the organization;
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, including IT Web developers, BI Services Analysts, outside consultants and management to translate business needs into actionable plans; 
  • Generate testing plans for internal quality assurance for the design, functionality and accuracy of development;
  • Collaborate with IT to develop and manage business intelligence solutions for the organization.
  • Evaluate financial reporting and analysis needs; incorporate best practices in developed solutions.
  • Identify the development needs for the purpose of streamlining and improving the operations of the organization for efficiency and profitability.
  • Work with developers, including outside consultants, communicating business requirements of development projects.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business process flows, functional specifications for reporting requirements and governance, training materials and quick reference guides for leveraging firm reporting tools;
  • Lead and participate in BI Power Hour presentations for business units on the digital financial reporting capabilities of applications such as Custom Web Reporting, Cognos Self-Service and Elite 3E;
  • Other duties, as assigned.








Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and approved college or university
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a professional services firm (ideally a law firm), in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science
  • In depth knowledge of financial metrics and how they are used in varying ways throughout an organization in financial reporting and analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in a professional services setting
  • Excellent overall computer skills
  • Proven ability to communicate across business units at all levels

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration/Management or Computer Science or related field from an accredited and approved college or university
  • Previous experience with Elite 3E, IMB Cognos, SQL Server Management Studio, Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analysis Services (or similar)
  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts along with experience in report writing tools and related database platforms (Informix, Oracle, Sybase, Access or SQL Server)
