The Clerical Assistant provides clerical support to DC management, and various departments and staff. Assists secretarial and paralegal team members in supporting their attorneys.









Responsibilities






Essential Functions: 

 

  • Filing including LegalKey preparation for Records
  • Minor document editing
  • Preparation of expense reports
  • Preparation of new matter memoranda
  • Photocopying
  • Creation of labels
  • Assist with mailings, distributions and faxing
  • Answering telephones
  • Attorney time entry
  • Binder assembly
  • Duties may vary for each assignment, floor or area of practice
  • All other special duties as assigned by Attorney, Paralegal, Secretary and Manager or Director of Administration

 









Qualifications






Education/Training/Certifications: 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Professional Experience: 

  • 1+ year office experience required

Technical Skills: 

  • Ability to learn new software specific to the needs of the assignments
  • Typing of 50 WPM

 

Performance Traits:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Solid grammar, punctuation and spelling skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

 

The typical Washington D.C. pay scale for this position is between $42,600 and $53,100, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
