The Client Account Manager (CAM) will be responsible for providing excellent client service and account management to assigned partners and client relationship managers (CRMs) to increase client retention, increase expansion opportunities and to deepen Husch Blackwell’s client relationships. The CAM will play a pivotal role in enhancing client satisfaction, timekeeper experience, and operational efficiency within the firm. The position requires a deep understanding of our CRMs’ practices and clients, and must demonstrate responsiveness, attention to detail, and strong project management skills.

Additionally, the CAM must be adept at client-facing interactions, capable of motivating teams, a versatile communicator, and should have an entrepreneurial spirit and take ownership for the success of HB and its ability to provide value to clients. Essential job function include:

  • In collaboration with CRMs, manage the client account and work with cross-functional internal teams to improve the entire client experience.
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks, working proactively to find solutions that enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with CRMs, key contacts at client, and other key relationship stakeholders.
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and implement client service plans in coordination with CRM and internal teams.
  • Plan and attend regular client meetings and teleconferences to strengthen client relationships.
  • Work closely with team and assist with the preparation and review of client-focused presentation materials.
  • Effectively project manage client account needs, including monitoring clients’ projects and internal team action items, working with teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of solutions/projects, coordinating communication with client, and tracking client outcomes over the course of the client engagement.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by motivating and guiding cross-functional teams to embrace new ideas, processes, and responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with various administrative areas, ensuring all parties are informed and aligned with client service objectives.
  • Coordinate client “touch points” which reinforce the on-going sales and client retention process. 
  • Develop new business with existing clients and collaborate with team and attorneys to grow opportunities. 
  • Maintain a list of client projects as well as the appropriate deadlines associated with these projects.
  • Develop a knowledge base of client issues and HB solutions.
  • Ensure HB is in compliance with client’s outside counsel guidelines (billing, communication, reporting).
  • Set service goals to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Prepare consistent reports on account status and clearly communicate the account progress to internal stakeholders.

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or communications. JD or MBA is preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional sales, consulting, or project management experience at progressing levels throughout career.
  • Strong business acumen. Must be able to analyze client needs, identify growth opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations that align with both client and firm objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a track record of good decision making.
  • Strong project management abilities are a must, including setting priorities, planning, organization, follow-through, delegation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under significant time constraints.
  • Consistent availability and responsiveness, including outside traditional working hours when needed.
  • Some travel is required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $125,000 - $239,000
  • State of Colorado: $115,000 - $205,000
  • State of Illinois: $113,000 - $219,000
  • State of Maryland: $121,000 - $184,000
  • State of Massachusetts: $125,000 - $239,000
  • State of Minnesota: $125,000 - $207,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $161,000 - $237,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus; however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
