Commercial Litigation Paralegal Job Details:

Snell & Wilmer L.L.P., one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the western United States, is currently seeking a full time Commercial Litigation Paralegal to join its Commercial Litigation practice group in our Los Angeles office. 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Litigation Paralegal with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our dynamic legal team. You will assist attorneys in managing all stages of complex commercial litigation cases, including those involving contract disputes, real estate, construction, franchising, banking, and consumer lending, (this position will also include work for the labor & employment attorneys) while ensuring efficient case organization and producing high-quality results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position will require in office work, generally at least 3 days per week.

The position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Case Management: Oversee the organization and maintenance of case files, including electronic document management, ensuring all materials are up-to-date and easily accessible
  • Document Preparation: Draft and edit pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and other court documents for attorney review
  • Discovery Support: Coordinate and assist with discovery efforts, including document collection, review, and production, and maintain privilege logs
  • E-Discovery: Utilize e-discovery platforms (e.g., Relativity) to manage, analyze, and produce electronic evidence
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal and factual research to support case strategy and draft summaries of findings; cite check legal memorandum and briefs
  • Court Filings: Prepare and file documents in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with local rules and e-filing procedures – this not so much
  • Trial Preparation: Assist with the preparation of trial materials, such as exhibits, witness files, and trial binders; coordinate logistics for hearings and trials; attend trial when requested in state and federal courts, sometimes requiring out of town travel
  • Communication: Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, providing updates and gathering necessary information for case progression
  • Administrative Duties: Manage case calendars, track deadlines, track billable time and maintain organized records of all case activities

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-accredited paralegal training program or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
  • At least 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in a law firm environment
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Experience with Relativity (RelOne) is a plus
    • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software
    • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal software platforms, along with Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong understanding of litigation processes, including federal and state rules of procedure
    • Must possess substantive knowledge of the litigation process and e-discovery, including document collection, review, and production
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent, quality work-product to both attorneys and clients
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • High attention to detail and ability to manage tight deadlines.
    • Familiarity with court filing procedures, including e-filing systems.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 annually, based on years of experience.
