Key West Criminal Defense is in search of an Associate Attorney to join our team in Key West, Florida. The ideal candidate will excel as a team player, possess strong criminal litigation experience and skills, and embody exceptional character.

This is the ideal job for a criminal lawyer, who just wants to practice law. You do not have to do client consultations. You just have to provide great legal work.


  • Serve as the main legal representative with autonomy in defending clients in County Court and Circuit Court in Key West, Marathon, and Plantation Key Courthouses.
  • Attend all court hearings – virtual or in-person – and provide professional representation.
  • Engage in plea negotiations and communicate those offers to clients with empathy and respect.
  • Compose persuasive motions and oversee and validate the paralegal's drafting of legal notices and basic motions practice.
  • Embrace your position as a member of our legal team and support our marketing staff, intake team, and legal assistants.
  • Must possess an active membership with The Florida Bar.
  • Possess demonstrable experience in criminal defense with knowledge of Florida criminal statutes, case law, and procedure.
  • Display positive and compassionate emotions, especially when clients are stressed and scared.
  • Possess proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, email, and other computer programs.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong research and analytical skills.
  • Possess the ability to manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Display the capacity to collaborate with other teams and welcome criticism.


A successful candidate should hold an active membership with The Florida Bar and demonstrate their extensive knowledge of Florida criminal statutes, case law, and procedure. They should be able to embody positivity, compassion, and empathy, especially when clients are in distress. In addition, the candidate should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, email, and other computer programs.


An ideal candidate should possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as demonstrate strong research and analytical skills. Furthermore, they must be able to manage time in a deadline-driven environment and collaborate with other teams while being open to criticism.
