The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for overseeing and directing the Resources Specialist and Operations Assistant on a day-to-day basis; supporting them with mentoring and training, as needed.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the Operations Manager with the maintenance of all internal systems, such as, OneLog, Quest, SpendConnect, SirsiDynix, etc., and administering all electronic resources and relevant workflows, including, managing I.P. addresses, coordinating licenses, contracts and renewal calendars, access, and copyright compliance.
Responsibilities
Supervises the day-to-day workflow of the Operations team to ensure delivery of high-quality service in their day-to-day responsibilities in acquisitions, distribution, circulation, cataloging and billing functions.
Overall management of the purchasing, registrations, renewals, password maintenance, and copyright compliance of database and electronic materials; assistance with the evaluation of online resources.
Leads the evaluation, selection, and deselection of print and online resource collections.
Collaborates with vendors to maintain seamless access to subscription resources.
Assists the Operations Manager with maintaining the request management system and Research intranet sites.
Coordinates training for attorneys and staff on use of resources and technology.
Works with the Research team and vendors to troubleshoot technical issues related to the integrated library system and online subscriptions.
Coordinates with the Research Manager on collection development and generates reports for practice groups of materials relevant to their practice
Supports the Operations Manager and Director to negotiate license terms with vendors and publishers, by providing analytical and comparative reviews.
Provides leadership in developing and maintaining awareness of emerging technologies, standards, and technical issues relating to the acquisition, access, and usage of electronic resources.
Provides electronic resource management for the Firm’s licensed content; creating and delivering reports on electronic resource costs, cost-recovery, utilization, and other statistics as well as providing interpretation, analysis, and recommending strategic action
Assists the Operations Manager in identifying electronic resources for consideration, establishing product trials and managing license terms related to electronic resources.
Works with the Operations Services Team to ensure documentation for the Integrated Library System (ILS) is in sync with the Department SharePoint content.
Supports the department Operations Manager with department initiatives, as assigned.
Recognizes the value of professional networking and actively participate in professional associations and online communities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science
Skills & Experience
Five (5) years of relevant progressive law library technical services/operations experience.
Demonstrated experience using an integrated library system.
Ability to effectively present information both verbally and in writing.
Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to scheduling changes and shifts in priorities.
Ability to identify complex problems, make decisions and implement effective solutions.
Ability to work independently, determine priorities and coordinate workflow effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills with a client focus.
Process-oriented with great attention to detail and technical acuity.
Superior organizational skills, unflagging attention to detail, and demonstrated commitment to the accuracy and completeness of information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products, particularly Excel and SharePoint
Preferred
Knowledge of library systems, particularly SIRSI and OCLC
Experience using Electronic Resource Management Systems such as Onelog or Research Monitor
Experience with MS SharePoint
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
