General Description

Our Boston office is seeking a full-time Estate Administration Specialist to support its Private Wealth Services practice. This is a fast-paced and dynamic office where you will
work closely with clients, attorneys and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries regarding the estate/trust administration process
  • Marshalling, organizing, and analyzing asset information.
  • Reading and interpreting wills and trust instruments
  • Coordinating valuation of assets and allocation of assets to sub-trusts
  • Preparing inventories, asset transfer documents, deeds, probate readings, fiduciary reports/accountings, receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits
  • Appearing in probate court on uncontested matters regarding wills and trusts
  • Preparing estate and gift tax returns
  • Reviewing and extracting relevant information from bank, brokerage and other statements
  • Maintaining checkbook and banking records
  • Computing and disbursing beneficiary distributions
  • Recording deeds in local jurisdictions
  • Preparing and filing beneficiary designation forms for life insurance and retirement accounts
  • Researching relevant state laws and/or federal estate, gift and GST tax laws.
  • Special project and duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to complete assignments
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel; and tax return preparation software.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with fiduciary income tax returns and/or Accounting/CPA background
  • Familiarity with local probate rules and procedures

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • J.D. from ABA accredited law school
  • Active Bar license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
