Responsibilities:

  • Achieve billable hour targets with the opportunity to earn bonuses exceeding set goals
  • Efficiently handle attorneys' schedules
  • Manage document filing and ensure all deadlines are met on time - Independence and Decision-Making:
  • Work under the direction of Owners, Managing Attorneys, and Associate Attorneys, adhering to Firm Policies, Procedures, and professional standards
  • Exhibit the capability to find solutions, and create innovative strategies, policies, and procedures


Performance Evaluation:

  • Evaluation standards involve meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), maintaining high work accuracy and quality, showcasing productivity, positive demeanor, effective communication, and adept problem-solving abilities
  • Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses to gather necessary facts and information pertaining to family law litigation cases
  • Explain relevant firm and external policies and procedures to clients in a clear and concise manner
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and other parties involved in legal matters, including witnesses and relevant individuals
  • Attend and provide assistance during trials, depositions, hearings, and various meetings related to family law cases
  • Independently draft high-quality legal documents and correspondence, demonstrating proficiency without constant oversight
  • Conduct thorough legal research and gather information based on attorney direction, including county-specific rules and procedures
  • Prepare research summaries with appropriate conclusions to assist attorneys in case preparations
  • Maintain accurate records of billable and non-billable time using the Firm’s practice management software
  • Ensure all client files adhere to the Firm’s File Keeping Policy and Procedure through regular quality control checks
  • Prepare and file legal documents accurately in compliance with various court requirements, including those of Superior Court and Allegheny County
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Preferably experienced in a paralegal role, but open to candidates who can demonstrate capability
  • Education in any of the following areas: - Paralegal certificate - Associate's degree - Bachelor's degree - Prior experience in a law firm, particularly in Family Law
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Experience with law firms' practice management software like Clio, FileVine, Microsoft Office
  • Skilled in tracking billable/non-billable hours and documenting work
  • Ability to create and format various legal documents and templates
  • Proficient in using electronic postage software (e.g., Stamps.com, USPS online, UPS online, FedEx online)
  • Knowledge of Mac computers and software
  • Experienced in operating multifunction office copier systems
  • Capable of scanning and renaming documents efficiently
  • Proficient in converting Word documents to PDF format
  • Skilled in communication via telephone with clients, court offices, attorneys, judges, witnesses, etc.
  • Quick to adapt and learn new technologies
  • Ability to adapt to changes effectively
