Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is recruiting for a Financial Analyst. Responsibilities include creating and distributing month-end financial reports to senior management, budgeting database preparation and maintenance, client and timekeeper statistics and special management reports as necessary. Assists in the design and implementation of financial reports for the monitoring of performance by cost center, practice group, office, etc. Assists in the development and design of the attorney-desk-top reporting application. This position is open to any of our office locations.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Prepares and analyzes monthly financial and statistical reports for distribution to the Firm’s Management Team and all Members. Types of information and quantity of reports may vary depending on the focus of the Firm at certain times.

  • Develops, maintains and enhances system used for budget preparation, review and finalization. Balances budget and distributes final product to appropriate groups. This information is updated on a quarterly basis and distributed to users in various formats.

  • Designs and prepares statistical reports on timekeepers for annual compensation evaluation.

  • Assists in design and implementation of financial reports for the monitoring of performance by cost center, practice group, office, etc. Analyzes and troubleshoots system issues, and maintains information for accuracy, consistency, completeness and the value provided.

  • Assists in the development and design of the attorney-desk-top reporting application / dashboard. Responsibilities will involve knowing structure of the accounting system tables, developing links, designing the reports and the screen output.

  • Develops the links into the relational database to make all reporting available on a real-time basis, enhancing current reporting tools for efficiency.

  • Perform data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for financial improvement.

  • Stays current with industry best practices and new financial technologies.

  • Maintain a strong understand of financial accounting principles.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences to ensure seamless end-to-end processes.

  • Completes other projects as requested.

  • Occasional travel to other offices.


 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

  • Three plus years of work-related experience. Experience in legal a plus.

  • Minimum of three years SQL experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of computer software, particularly with the following software applications: Business Objects, Access, Iridium, Excel, Crystal Report and PowerPoint. Preference for experience with legal software such as Aderant Expert, Billblast, Prebill Manager, Emburse Chrome River and Intapp.

  • Strong understanding of general ledger, balance sheet, income statement, and financial reporting principles.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques used for resolution.

  • Excellent communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills; attention to detail essential.

  • Pro-active, inquisitive and analytical problem solver able to exercise independent judgment with the ability to recommend improvements in areas of responsibility.

  • Ability to collaborate and cross-team with all finance team members, effectively present information and respond to questions when interacting with legal professionals and colleagues. Promotes a positive work environment that embraces the diversity and abilities of all members.

  • Requires flexibility and ability to prioritize workload effectively.

  • Excellent attention to detail required.
