About the Role






The Global Director of Human Resources – Relations, Policy & Compliance is an integral part of Latham’s Human Capital & Talent team. This role will be responsible for leading all aspects of the global employee relations team for Latham & Watkins, while acting as a lead advisor and business partner to the firm’s senior leadership teams (e.g., Chiefs, Directors of Administration, Human Resources leaders), interpreting and overseeing the application of human resources policies and procedures, and acting as a subject matter expert related to updates or changes to current employment laws, regulations, and executive orders across the firm’s global platform. This role will be located in our New York office.









Responsibilities & Qualifications






Other key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing employee relations strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities, culture, and values
  • Overseeing and acting as the primary point of escalation for practice office HR teams regarding employee matters related to performance management and conflict resolution, including formal procedures, ensuring prompt resolution in line with the firm’s policies and standards, and in accordance with applicable legal requirements within local jurisdictions across the globe
  • Leading and conducting thorough investigations into complex employee matters, ensuring fairness, impartiality, and compliance with legal requirements
  • Advising business leaders, line managers, and supervisors directly on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate expertise in legal and regulatory factors including relevant employment laws
  • Possess the ability to think strategically, influence, and drive business objectives
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources functions

And have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in employee and/or labor relations
  • A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience at a professional services organization
