Summary






The IT intern should be a current undergraduate student who is ambitious about technology and service excellence with a future career goal of working in information technology. The selected students will have a primary placement within Sidley’s Network Operations Center and operate as part of a team who are responsible for providing 24 x 7 365 infrastructure and applications management, support and monitoring of IT systems. During their internship, they will have opportunities to utilize IT operations monitoring and management tools to provide technical troubleshooting, oversight, and escalation to support Enterprise Applications, Architecture and Infrastructure with hardware break/fix, vendor interaction, maintenance, and system updates.

 

The IT intern must have a class schedule that allows them to work onsite in the Chicago office up to 19 hours a week for at least six months, or until graduation or business needs change. 

 

 

Pay is $20/hour.









Duties and Responsibilities






  • Monitor the performance and health of the Firm’s infrastructure using a variety of tools to identify and determine next steps.
  • Provide triage or basic troubleshooting to help identify issues by following outlined (SOP) standard operating procedures and escalate appropriately.
  • Document all actions in accordance with standard company policies and procedures
  • Maintain ongoing communication during major incidents to keep all stakeholders aware of relevant information and steps being taken.
  • Perform basic systems testing and operational tasks (installation of patches, network connectivity testing, script execution, etc.)
  • Work with internal and external technical and service teams to create and/or update knowledge base articles
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Current sophomore, junior or senior student pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Security, or related IT discipline with an expected graduation date of June 2025 or later. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new concepts and technology quickly

 Preferred:

  • Previous IT internship
