IT Technician Job Details:



Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest law firms in the Western United States, is seeking an IT Technician in our Salt Lake Office.  Your daily responsibilities will be providing technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensure the smooth operation of supporting our partners and employees' technical needs. 
 


If you possess in-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, printers, peripherals, and network connectivity; this position may be for you!


The position is also responsible for providing day-to-day support for the firm’s laptops/desktop computers, printers, and peripheral equipment.  You will work closely with the Solution Center team, and escalation level teams to ensure the proper function of all hardware, software, and network connectivity.  Proactively takes initiative to troubleshoot and solve problems for end users.  You must possess in-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, printers, peripherals, and network connectivity.  You will work with IT Management, software development/procurement and user groups.


The hours for this position are from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the office.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Troubleshoot and repair computers in a networked environment

    • Configure and support:

      • Hardware

      • Laptops

      • Desktops

      • Mobile Devices

      • Printers

      • Peripherals

      • VoIP phones

      • Audio Visual systems

      • Cloud based video conference systems



    • Imaging and placement of computers, printers, and related equipment

    • Maintain a current inventory of computer equipment and supplies

    • Configure PDAs and laptops for connection to firm systems

    • Install and configure software

    • Provide onsite support for the Solution Center, Infrastructure, Systems, and Security teams

    • Utilize the ticketing system for all issues

    • Develop and document processes and procedures for the desktop/technical support group

    • Serve as primary backup to the department’s audio/visual group

    • Conduct new hire software training as needed

    • Travel to other Snell offices as needed

    • IT Support for the Salt Lake City, Portland, and Seattle offices

    • Other projects as assigned




Experience and Qualifications: 



  • 2 to 3 years’ experience with computer support

    • Advanced expertise/knowledge regarding troubleshooting of complex problems with Microsoft and other third-party applications



  • A+ Certified preferred, but not required

  • College degree or technical school certification a plus

  • Strong technical knowledge of PC/laptop hardware, Windows, and Apple iOS

  • Working knowledge of basic network concepts (such as TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN and IP telephony)

  • In-depth knowledge and experience supporting desktop and laptop computers, local and networked printers, PDA devices, desktop scanners and other peripheral devices

  • Must be able to troubleshoot network and wireless connectivity, and possess a solid understanding of network components, infrastructure, and Active Directory setup

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, and appropriately prioritize tasks

  • Able to lift, carry, and move light-to-medium weights of up to 45 lbs.

  • Able to work independently and part of a team

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Maintain a high level of these professional standards: communication, organization, cooperation, calmly dealing with high-pressure situations
