We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team in our Pittsburgh office.
The ideal candidate will assist in managing administrative tasks, maintaining communication with clients and stakeholders, and supporting attorneys within the practice group. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in office software, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Principal Duties
Responsible for a full range of office support administrative duties, including but not limited to requesting information from county or other governmental entities, performing internet research, and preparing basic correspondence
Support case docket management.
Open and maintain electronic files, includes accurate data entry.
Communicate with clients and opposing counsel delivering an exceptional level of service.
Assist other members of the practice and attorneys as needed.
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interact with diverse client base in a professional and service-oriented manner.
Proficient computer skills and comfortable learning new software programs. Intermediate level Word, Excel and Outlook skills. Experience using a database.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A detail-oriented approach to work and the ability to prioritize workload and deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment. Effective under pressure and high-volume situations with multiple priorities and deadlines.
High level of confidentiality.
Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative.
Experience and Education
Minimum of 1 year(s) of law office experience
Bachelor or Associate degree strongly preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
Perform light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment such as telephone, copier, scanner, computer, etc.
Works in a typical office setting.
Ability to work more than 35 hours in a work week during busy periods. (Required to be in office 5 days a week during the months of March and July for busy filing periods.)
Training period would be 5 days a week in office. Once completed, hybrid schedule, 2 days remote, 3 days in office.
