Clausen Miller P.C. is seeking a highly qualified Legal Assistant for our downtown Chicago office to join our Insurance Defense Practice.  The Legal Assistant provides secretarial/paralegal and administrative support to attorneys, while working collaboratively with others in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. This position supports multiple attorneys as primary assignments and also provides back-up secretarial assistance to others when needed.  Hybrid work schedule available.

Essential Functions

  • Using Word and document management software.
  • Maintains Calendar: Maintains and updates the calendars for assigned attorneys, including meetings, appointments, and due dates.
  • Maintains Files: Sets up, organizes, and maintains paper and electronic files in compliance with internal policies.
  • Timekeeping, Expense Reporting, Billing:  Enter attorneys time and submits in a timely manner. Prepares expense reimbursements requests.
  • Assists attorneys with scheduling conference calls, etc.
  • Provides General Administrative Support.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant.
  • Must have knowledge of federal and local court filing rules.
  • Must have strong proficiency e-filing in state and federal courts.
  • Accurate typing.
  • Computer proficiency in the use of Word (styles) document management and database software.
  • The ability to prioritize workload and efficiently handle multiple projects with competing deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility and initiative in anticipating what needs to be done
  • Time management skills
  • Organizational skills including calendaring, and proofreading.

Benefits & Pay
Target pay range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 based on the experience and quality of the candidate.
