KEY CONTRIBUTIONS



  • Perform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes

  • Prepare, edit, and/or draft correspondence, reports, pleadings, and legal documents

  • Learn and apply formatting requirements specific to various courts for pleadings

  • File briefs, pleadings, and other filings in bankruptcy court and state/federal court

  • Plan and schedule conferences, depositions, and/or meetings

  • Maintain calendars including court deadlines and appearances

  • Plan and prepare travel arrangements

  • Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed

  • Process expense reimbursements

  • Answer incoming calls; prepare documents for shipment; and distribute mail

  • Open and maintain client files, cases and organizational documents

  • Respond to inquiries for information

  • Other responsibilities as needed


THE ESSENTIALS



  • At least two years of experience as a bankruptcy or litigation legal secretary/assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department environment; experience in consumer bankruptcy is preferred and state court experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of electronic filing procedures

  • Proficient with Word 2016 and dictation equipment

  • Ability to type 50 wpm

  • Associate's degree or equivalent or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and a team player who takes ownership

  • Balance competing priorities and work effectively under pressure

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
