JCG has an opening for a litigation legal secretary to perform legal and administrative duties for 3-4 attorneys whose practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation.Β Clients include financial services businesses, corporations, and wealthy individuals. This is a full-time position, on-site in Downtown Dallas.Β The salary range is $75,000+ (depending on years of experience).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Files documents internally (in the firmβs document management system), externally (with state and federal courts, county property records, and secretaries of state)
- Calendars calls and meetings and helps named partner manage his schedule
- Drafts letters, memos, and pleadings (table of contents, index of authorities, and working with styles is a plus).
- Prepares dossiers in preparation for conferences and meetings
- Assists in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials; assembles and delivers bench copies; arranges for court reporters; and interacts with court personnel
- Serves as liaison for client contacts, law firms, vendors and other parties on legal matters
- Receives, reviews, and routes letters and other correspondence
- Maintains IT security and client confidences
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of litigation legal assistant experience
Skills and Abilities
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proofreading ability, including grammar, syntax, usage, and spelling
- Fluency with legal citations and terminology
- Proficiency with the following computer programs:
- Required: Microsoft Outlook and 365, Federal and State court filing systems
- Preferred: Clio, NetDocuments
- Bonus: Westlaw
- Flexibility to work overtime occasionally
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good attendance and punctuality
