This Manager for the Office of the Queens County District Attorney will coordinate and supervise the office’s discovery obligations.


Job Description:



  • Assist the Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of QDA’s Discovery Compliance Unit which obtains, reviews and disseminates discovery from law enforcement partners as required by C.P.L. § 245.

  • Oversee and manage a unit of Queens DA [“QDA”] Operation Coordinator Liaisons, who are responsible for obtaining and verifying discovery documents from NYPD, MTA, NYS Police, the Port Authority and other agencies.

  • Collaborate with all levels of personnel from external stakeholders including public defenders’ organizations, law enforcement agencies such as District Attorneys’ Offices and the New York City Police Department, and other state, local and federal governmental agencies, such as Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, on legal and technological issues pertaining to discovery.

  • Collaborate with QDA’s Information Technology Bureau, private computer software vendors, and internal QDA end users to identify discovery issues, develop solutions, and implement best practices.

  • As a key member on QDA’s Discovery Committee, assist in developing and implementing Office policy concerning discovery practices.

  • Stay current with the ever-evolving discovery practices, including caselaw and technology advancements.

  • Provide legal and technological guidance to attorneys and paralegals on discovery related issues including discovery identification, gathering, motion practice, and Article 245 compliance.

  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date caselaw and motion databases for discovery practice.

  • Serve as a resource for delivering targeted information, including formal and informal trainings, to bureaus and units throughout the office on the topics of discovery compliance and technology advancements.

  • Prepare periodic compliance reports.


Qualifications:



  • Must be an attorney with at least five years prosecutorial experience.

  • Should have felony trial experience as a prosecutor, and experience collaborating with law enforcement and other governmental agencies.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must possess a thorough understanding of the prosecutor’s obligations pursuant to recent discovery reform legislation.

Salary and title will be commensurate with experience.  The salary range is from $101,000 to $175,000.
