Gevurtz Menashe, PC is seeking an experienced Family Law Senior Paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service to our clients and external professionals in order to accomplish the Core Objectives of the position.

The Family Law Senior Paralegal is responsible for providing assistance to attorneys, mentorship to Paralegals and excellent care to our clients from the beginning to the end of their case.

Core Objectives:

  1. Assistance to Attorneys. Utilize strong work ethic, an amassed knowledge of local and state rules, and expertise with basic legal proceedings complemented by the ability to assist with court processes to provide legal assistance to Attorneys in the Oregon Family Law department.
  2. Internal Training. Provide mentorship and training to Paralegals by coordinating and delegating projects to Paralegals and overseeing the outcome of the project that was delegated.
  3. Client Experience. Provide excellent care to our clients from beginning to end of the case.

This position reports to the Director of Human Resources. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on-site at our Portland, Oregon location, at least 3 days per week. Additional hours may be requested, as necessary, to accomplish goals and responsibilities.

Requirements

Required Work Experience:

  • A Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oregon Family Law.
  • Experience which enables independent assessment of client matters.
  • Experience which enables contribution to the development of case strategy, including working independently and proactively determine strategic moves and anticipation of next steps.  

Required Skills:

  

· Exceptional client service skills and ability to work independently, as well as on a team. 

· Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. 

· Must have ability to meet strict deadlines. 

· Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.

· Must be detail-oriented and set high standards for accuracy. 

· Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills required. 

· Must be able to demonstrate your experience to independently assess client matters in order to contribute to the development of case strategy.

· Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Power Point. 

· Must have ability to quickly learn and use technology systems (software) including: Adobe Acrobat, LexisNexis legal research, Zola Suite, and Net Documents.

· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all employee and company information. 


Required Specialized Knowledge:

  • Specialized knowledge related to division of assets (real property, retirement, investments, stocks, life insurance, business formation documents, trust and estate documents, etc.) and the tax implications thereof.
  • Experience reading and interpreting tax returns, K1s, and other asset statements.
  • Experience with all stages of litigation.
  • Experience preparing for and attending trials/arbitrations/mediations/hearings.
  • Knowledge of local and state filing rules, procedures and terminology.

Required Physical Ability:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time (up to 3 hours at a time).
  • Consistently work 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday). Occasional overtime may be requested to meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Consistent use of computer throughout the day.
  • Occasionally climbing stairs.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds.
