Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its Charleston, SC office. 


Primary responsibilities:


Document review and management, discovery support, conduct legal research, assist with drafting correspondences, file organization, filing of legal documents, support for deposition, trial and hearing preparation. Additional responsibilities will include time entry, file maintenance, preparing correspondence with clients and external counsel, formatting and preparing state and federal legal filings, filing legal documents (including e-filing), docket management, making travel arrangements, assisting with scheduling/calendar, preparing and coordinating discovery including document production, etc.


Qualifications & Experience:


The successful candidate must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent; 4 year degree preferred, with at least 2 - 5 years of business or commercial litigation experience, particularly with large and complex cases. Familiarity with e-discovery and the technology involved in e-discovery, particularly Summation or Concordance and Relativity preferred. Experience with Trial Director preferred. Candidates must be an enthusiastic self-starter with excellent MS Office, typing, proofreading and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work. Must also be able to handle deadlines and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must have a professional demeanor in order to work well with all levels of staff attorneys and our clients. Also must have the ability and willingness to work well under pressure and at times more than the standard work schedule in order to accomplish responsibilities of the position. 


Physical Requirements:



  • The work is primarily sedentary.

  • It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.

  • The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.

  • The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights. Retrieve and replace objects from shelves up to 8 feet high.

  • Capacity to lift objects weighing up to 20lbs.
