Our Litigation department has an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal in the Orlando office. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Litigation practice area coordinator. The primary job responsibilities encompass performing paralegal tasks to support and help the attorneys manage their cases. This is a fast-paced environment and you must be able to work as part of a collaborative team as well possess the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and will show initiative, professionalism, and discretion in all matters. Flexibility, excellent judgement, and the ability to contribute to a positive, team environment is essential.


Responsibilities:



  • Coordinates document production, including summarizing documents, attending productions, reviewing documents and arranging for copying. Must know how to use eDiscovery tools to facilitate document, discovery and case management. Proficient with database case management.

  • Assists attorneys with depositions, including preparing notices and subpoenas duces tecum and arranging for court reporter. Indexes and summarizes depositions and deposition exhibits. Prepares and organizes materials for depositions.

  • Assists attorneys with brief preparation including cite checking, shepardizing, proofing, quotation verification and compilation of appendices and addendums.

  • Assists attorneys with hearing and trial preparation including preparing exhibits, notebooks, checklists and witness files. Coordinates the schedules of witnesses and experts.

  • Attends hearings and trials to support attorneys and acts as liaison with outside vendors for the preparation of charts, graphs, etc. Maintains and organizes trial exhibits and documents at court and arranges for transportation.

  • Assists attorneys with the preparation of legal documents such as complaints and answers, motions, discovery requests and responses, affidavits, subpoenas and settlement documents.

  • Participates in fact gathering and investigation and prepares summaries and memos concerning the data.

  • Organizes and maintains client files and form files.

  • Occasionally researches and analyzes legal sources such as cases, statutes, rules, legal articles, regulations and public records to assist attorneys.

  • Other duties as requested and assigned.

  • Education and experience - A minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred or Paralegal Certificate at a minimum; equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for education requirement.

  • Advanced skills in Word (using styles, track changes and document comparison programs); proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; Advanced skills with Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.

  • Must have experience working with eDiscovery.

  • Must have experience working with Relativity.

  • Interpersonal communication skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with partners, attorneys, clients and staff in person, by eҀ‘mail and telephone.

  • Must be detailed oriented, able to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and possess strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information.

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service and be able to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to work overtime when needed.Β
