The Paralegal will assist the Global Mobility & Migration practice team with managing the mobility needs of clients as a paralegal with 5-10 years’ experience in high-volume visa processing across nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories relevant to employment based immigration, including L, EB-1/2/3, O-1, NIW, TN, H,E-3, E-1/E-2, and PERM, with particular emphasis on submissions requiring more writing, including EB-1A/B/C, NIW, O-1, L-1, E-2, and specialty matters.

 









Responsibilities






Essential Functions: 

  • Prepare US employment-based, non-immigrant and immigrant visa filings to US Citizenship and Immigration Services, US Department of State, US Department of Labor, and US Customs and Border Protection
  • Analyze and draft E-2 L-1, EB-1, O-1, and NIW petitions, as well as the full spectrum of requests for immigration benefits, including but not limited to H-1B, E-3, L-1, TN, PERM, EB-2/3, and AOS
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, based on attorney advice, on immigration benefits, government procedures and case processing time lines
  • Meticulously track and report on visa expiration dates and filing deadlines
  • Maintain client files and data online and offline
  • Respond to immigration inquiries in a timely manner and adhering to submission deadlines
  • Mentor and train junior paralegal staff when required
  • During absences acts as back-up to other paralegals for specific case projects. Travel as needed. Other duties as requested by attorneys and manager

 









Qualifications






Education/Training/Certifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree with solid academic credentials and 5-10 years of relevant experience required

 

Professional Experience: 

  • Extensive experience writing L-1, EB-1, O-1, and NIW filings required
  • Experience must include managing various priorities simultaneously in a high-volume and fast-paced environment required
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm required
  • Experience working on global immigration matters, including consular processing and document legalization/authentication, preferred

 

Specific Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
  • Proficiency in legal terminology and immigration database software, such as INSZoom or similar, required
  • Familiarity with iSheets, Power BI, and PDF editing strongly preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside parties such as filing vendors and personnel at jurisdictions of filing
  • Detail-Oriented:Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
  • Must possess a desire to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment, an attention to detail, strong organizational skills and enjoy providing top quality customer service skills to assist our growing GMM team in managing the mobility needs of our diverse, Fortune 500 client base

  • Must possess a curiosity to learn new areas of the law and think creatively, as we seek to provide all team members with a diverse portfolio of immigration and mobility matters
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm

  • Exercise solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements: 

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

 

The typical Washington, D.C. pay scale for this position is between $87,300 and $100,400, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
