About the Role 


Rocket Lawyer is looking for a sharp and energetic Legal Editor to join our team on a part time basis (10-15 hours a week). This role will be in charge of building, optimizing and transferring Rocket Lawyer’s rich library of proprietary legal documents to a new platform. Success in this position will require impeccable writing and editing skills, as well as excellent problem-solving. Candidates should be detail-oriented, interested in technology, and know how to review and assess documents for grammar and spelling. The ability to identify and break issues down into manageable steps, and assemble those steps into a clear and straightforward process will be a critical part of this role.


Success in this position requires excellent communication and time management skills. The ability to work through projects with little or no supervision is essential, as are the abilities to commit to and deliver against deadlines and adapt to changes in requirements quickly and efficiently.


Responsibilities



  • Structure clearly articulated, easy-to-use decision flows that help make sense of how legal documents are organized for customer use

  • Work with colleagues and technical staff to develop and test interactive documents

  • Continuously improve Rocket Lawyer’s legal document library; propose document-based projects to improve efficiency and add customer value

  • Effectively communicate progress toward project milestones


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 1+ year of legal research or law school experience preferred

  • Copyediting, proofreading, or academic grading experience

  • Experience working in a law firm or startup environment preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people in multiple locations and departments

  • A basic understanding of project management and tools (For example, Jira)
