Summary






As a member of the Sidley Security Department, the incumbent will develop and implement security procedures to ensure the protection of the firm's facilities, assets, and personnel. The incumbent will conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of intelligence data to detect trends in terrorist, criminal and geo-political activities that may impact the Firm and personnel. The incumbent will develop security policies and procedures that comply with government guidelines and standards.









Duties and Responsibilities






  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes vendor provided intelligence designed to help Sidley avoid disruptive efforts of crime, terrorism, geo-political events, etc.
  • Participates in Security team’s threat/risk assessment process which includes periodic and random security inspections and preparing security reports. 
  • Coordinates the travel security program including the review of travel itineraries, provision of briefings to travelers, and review of security vendor activities.
  • Works with Security team to create and maintain safety and security baselines for Firm facilities, assets and personnel.  Distributes security manuals, documents and related records.  Maintains facility security requirements and implements procedures for safeguarding proprietary and customer furnished data.
  • Conducts investigations to protect organization assets and personnel.
  • Coordinates response planning to contingency events, including bomb threats, sabotage and severe weather conditions.
  • Maintains inspection reports and records and advises the Security Management of deficiencies and remediation efforts.
  • Assists in various security related functions Firm-wide as directed.
  • Acts as liaison to all departments on security measures, procedures and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Understanding of world-wide geo-political events and consequences to business operations
  • Working knowledge of basic research principles and methods to collect, verify and analyze information from a variety of sources
  • Knowledge of methods used to extract information from computer databases, including online databases
  • Proficient in developing records systems, reports and secure system processing needs
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
  • MS Office proficiency with Word, Excel, Access and proprietary databases
  • Available to travel

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of security systems applications
  • General knowledge of law enforcement/security operations a plus
