Snell & Wilmer is one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States is currently seeking a Privacy and Client Review Counsel to work in the Office of General Counsel in the Phoenix office; this role is hybrid. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reviews of outside counsel guidelines or agreements, and assisting with compliance with privacy laws and regulations.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review, analyze, and provide comments on Outside Counsel Guidelines, requests for proposal, client generated engagement letters, and expert engagement letters
- Facilitate, track, and help implement Outside Counsel Guidelines
- Work with and provide support to others in the Office of General Counsel, including Conflicts Counsel, Senior Client Review Counsel, and General Counsel
- Keep current on the status of proposed and enacted state, federal and international privacy law
- Work closely with and support the firm’s Privacy Officer on such matters as:
- Operational, strategic, or compliance risk to the Firm
- Compliance with applicable state, federal and international information privacy and data breach notification law (specifically CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, GDPR, and UK GDPR), and the secure information processing requirements of our clients and the Firm
- Processes as needed to comply with Firm and client mandated Information Privacy and Protection requirements
- Database creation and management
- Business associate agreements
- Public inquiries on the Firm’s privacy policy and to public data portability requests per applicable law
- Identifying training modules on secure information handling and on privacy law for Firm personnel
- Responding to client audits
Experience and Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctorate degree and in good standing with the local bar or applicable state supreme court
- At least three years of experience as a practicing attorney, with contract review/drafting, issue spotting, professional liability, or loss prevention skills an advantage. Strong knowledge of ethical requirements a plus.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience as a practicing privacy attorney would be helpful, but not required
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Experience and knowledge of privacy laws, compliance, and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPPA, and other relevant frameworks
- Relevant privacy certifications (e.g., CIP, CIPC, CIPE, CIPM) are desired, but not required
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, to manage sensitive and confidential information, and to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a high degree of interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail
