Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Profession Development Assistant in our Cleveland office! This position is hybrid and has work from home flexibility.


Position Summary:


Do you have experience with professional development and continuing education? Are you a master at scheduling, calendaring and coordinating? Are you excited about an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with a small group as well as be involved with internal DEI organizations? The role of Professional Development Assistant may be the one you've been looking for! This role is designed for the coordinator who likes to keep busy and assist in the successful implementation of department programs and initiatives.


The Professional Development Assistant works with the Professional Development team to provide support for all attorney professional development including scheduling meetings, coordinating materials, maintaining training schedules, assisting with CLE initiatives and more. This position also provides support to the Firm's Women's Initiative (WIN) and Associate Development Committee (ADC)


Essential Functions:


1. Coordinate all aspects of our practice group, committee, and special program training sessions, including sending/maintaining calendar appointments, setting up videoconference links, booking conference rooms, ordering food, printing name tags, etc.


2. Coordinate the evaluation process following all training programs and events; gather/review feedback and make recommendations on improvements moving forward.


3. Assist the CLE Specialist with inputting attendance at CLE seminars, generating CLE Certificates of Attendance for attorneys, and responding to inquiries about CLE compliance. Periodically serve as attendance monitor for CLE programming.


4. Support the Manager of Learning & Development in the implementation of the firm mentoring programs, including scheduling programs, following up on meetings, and other support as needed.


5. Support the Attorney Performance Management Manager with the annual attorney performance evaluation process, including drafting communications, running reports, scheduling meetings, monitoring processes in viDesktop, and other support as needed.


6. Coordinate firm participation in community leadership programs in each of our markets, including identifying programs, monitoring application timelines, soliciting attorney nominations (in collaboration with the Director of Professional Development), maintaining records of program participants, and soliciting program feedback from participants.


7. Manage the Professional Development department email inbox, responding to or routing messages appropriately.


8. Monitor weekly attorney arrivals, departures, and transfers and ensure all relevant department files and software systems are updated appropriately.


9. Maintain the professional development content on the Firm's intranet; maintain the training and development content on each practice group's intranet site and/or appropriate iManage workspace.


10. Coordinate firm responses to national industry surveys like Vault, ALM, and Seramount.


11. Manage the department credit cards and other expenses, ensuring backup is collected and submitted timely each month.


12. Assist in the preparation of materials, gifts, or other items needed for department or Firm events, including the New Partner Leadership Summit, New Attorney Swearing-In events, etc.


13. Provide support to various Firm committees including events, meetings, and follow-ups.


14. Compile and distribute the bi-weekly department CLE & PD News and Events e-newsletter.


15. Provide administrative support including correspondence, report generation, memoranda and/or other documents, revising, proofreading, assembling, and distributing prepared materials as necessary.


Additional Responsibilities:


1. Assist with special projects as needed.


2. Perform other duties as assigned.
