The Senior Budget Analyst is responsible for assisting management with developing, preparing and managing the firm’s annual budget process; monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and a variety of tasks related to financial planning and cost control. This position will include actual to budget expense analysis, forecasting, headcount analysis, and various other aspects of financial analytics. The Senior Budget Analyst will liaise with office heads, practice heads and administration directors to complete all finance related requests. They will also assist in expense tracking and budgeting analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Review and analyze expense data and prepare reports of budget versus actual benchmarking

  • Utilize financial/budget software to develop reports to more effectively manage the business for firm decision makers (CFO, practice/office heads, etc.)

  • Training staff on budgeting/financial management software

  • Assess financial impact of proposed changes in service or organizational structure, and prepare updated expense forecasts to management

  • Collaborate with office & department heads to develop financial forecasts

  • Gather financial and headcount data for RFPs for existing and perspective business development opportunities

  • Assist in the completion of quarterly and annual industry surveys

  • Complete various reconciliation processes to ensure integrity between payroll & headcount

  • Assist in creation of monthly and ad-hoc analyses across offices, practices and departments

  • Develop new approaches to integrate information that will improve access to information for firm decision makers

  • Undertake assignments upon request by management to support various initiatives and projects

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing

  • Superior analytical skills

  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel; proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to take initiative and complete work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Required Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of budget/financial analysis in legal or related field required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with xcelerate or other budget software

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Education

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred

The estimated base salary range for this position is $115k - $130k at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning that it is not overtime pay eligible.
