Role Overview:  This role requires a deep understanding of law firm economics and profitability levers. The ideal candidate will engage in different aspects of financial engineering for the firm, including developing new strategies that analyze, model, and develop a cash flow tracking and other tools and system that aligns with our firm's strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn and internalize our distinctive partner profit distribution model. This requires reviewing historical partnership distributions, expenses, and conducting internal modeling.
  • Develop and integrate a cash flow statement into the budgeting process, ensuring real-time tracking of profit distribution and revenue projections.
  • Analyze practice-specific profitability metrics and develop KPIs that align with our unique business model.
  • Create dashboard reporting tools that provide insights into realization rates, utilization, and matter profitability across practice groups.
  • Conduct variance analysis between forecasted and actual financial performance, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Develop sophisticated financial models to support strategic growth initiatives and lateral hiring decisions.
  • Establish and maintain financial controls while balancing smart, strategic spending.
  • Continuously seek best practices and process improvements in financial management of the firm.
  • Work closely with firm leadership and finance colleagues with a team-oriented mindset.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in professional services finance, with a strong grasp of partner compensation models and law firm economics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Expertise in financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and budgeting within the legal industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing practice-specific profitability metrics and financial analysis frameworks.
  • Proficient in financial software and automation tools, specifically legal practice management systems (Elite, Aderant, etc.) and Microsoft Power BI or similar dashboard tools.
  • Deep understanding of realization, utilization, effective rates, and other key performance indicators specific to law firms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect expenses to revenue impact and align financial strategies with the firm's business objectives.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to diverse audiences, including partner meetings.
  • Collaborative team player with a service-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively across departments.
Benefits and Perks:
Annual salary range:  $  130,000 - $160,000
