The Senior Manager of the Women’s Initiative has Firm wide responsibility for helping further the agenda of the Women’s Committee and Women’s Advisory Council. This role is primarily responsible for assisting both the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in managing all aspects of the global Women’s Initiative, as well as providing general support for broader diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. The Senior Manager will contribute to Firm wide initiatives and special projects, as needed, with respect to the recruitment, retention and professional development of women. As an integral member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team, the Senior Manager will be a visible part of the Firm culture and a clear resource for associates, counsel and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, cultivate and implement initiatives focused on the professional development and retention of women lawyers, consistent with the Firm’s overall strategy of fostering gender equity and an inclusive Firm culture

  • Serve as a gender diversity subject matter expert; stay abreast of market trends and innovations and recommend and implement programs and policies to further the Firm’s commitment to supporting the careers of all lawyers

  • Evaluate internal metrics and industry benchmarks related to the pipeline of women lawyers, and create reports and presentations, as necessary

  • Provide substantive expertise and logistical support for all aspects of the Firm’s Women’s Initiative, including the Firm’s Women’s Committee and Women’s Advisory Council

  • Plan, manage and lead all aspects of Women’s Initiative career development and connectivity programming, including the Women’s Leadership Cohorts Initiative, Partner Officer Hours, Women’s Committee members visit to the Firm’s U.S. and London offices, Women’s History Month Forum, Women’s Forums, annual Women’s Leadership Conference and relevant communications corresponding to each of these efforts

  • Manage Coordinator(s) contributing and collaborating on Women’s Initiative programming

  • Develop programs and resources specific to underrepresented women lawyer populations, including women of color, out women, first-generation lawyers

  • Identify external programs that would be of interest to women attorneys, including business and career development training, professional skills, networking and similar topics

  • Attend and represent the Firm at internal and external women’s programs, conferences, trainings and client events that are often held after normal work hours

  • Assist with associate and counsel coaching efforts, including identifying/sourcing coaches based on needs

  • Manage internal and external communications about the Women’s Initiative, including the website, monthly newsletters and recruiting materials

  • Work closely with various administrative teams and staffing partners to facilitate caregiver return, reintegration and parenting resources

  • Partner with Director of DEI to maintain current statistics pertaining to gender diversity and respond to RFP’s and industry surveys

  • Partner with outside organizations and clients to create strategic alliances enhancing the Firm’s gender programs

  • Assist with Legal Recruiting and Professional Development related functions on an as-needed basis, including attending recruiting and summer associate events; meeting and corresponding with women applicants and supporting onboarding and orientation programming

  • Perform other related responsibilities, as needed

Required Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent collaboration and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and implement solutions, as needed

  • Service-oriented mindset

  • Able to effectively work both independently and collaboratively with professionals at all levels

  • Strong judgment and ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information

  • Must be team oriented, contributing, as needed, on unexpected projects or requests

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis on PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel is required

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 5 - 6 years post-graduate experience in a law firm or professional services organization

  • Experience and/or familiarity with gender equity and parity practices in the legal profession and/or corporate organizations, highly desirable

  • Prior experience in professional development, marketing, legal recruiting or related area highly desirable

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Education

  • J.D and/or Master’s degree preferred

NY only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $175k to $210k at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.  This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
