Staff Accountant

Agile Legal is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic and growing organization that values its employees and their contributions. This is an opportunity for an initiative-taking self-starter to learn all facets of day-to-day accounting, periodic closes and reporting, FP&A, and compliance and directly impact the creation and growth of the Company’s accounting functions.

This position will collaborate directly with the Company’s Controller and other members of the accounting team to develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to support the Company’s growth. It will also require interaction with personnel from across the Company.

Location: Remote or Hybrid (Middletown, DE)

Responsibilities:

  • Invoicing/Billing Inquiries: Review client activity for accuracy and reasonableness and use to prepare client invoices. QC invoices are prepared by other billing personnel. Assist in responding to client billing inquiries.
  • Cash Application: Post cash receipts and apply to respective client invoices. Correspond with clients to resolve differences.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forwards, including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses, and deferred revenue.
  • Accounts Payable/Vendor Management: Assist in the processing of vendor invoices and related payments, as well as vendor maintenance.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and post journal entries. Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger, including the addition of new GL accounts, when warranted, as well as report mapping.
  • Monthly Reporting Package: Assist in the preparation of the Company’s monthly reporting package, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows, KPI’s and other periodic analysis.
  • Variance Analysis: Analyze actual to budget variances as well as other account analysis when needed.
  • Internal Controls/Process Improvement: Assist in identifying areas requiring improvement and recommend corrective action, when necessary. Assist with developing and implementing process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Complete special projects and analysis as required.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 0-2 years of experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, preferred.
  • Intellectual curiosity and open to learning new concepts.
  • Comfortable with and managing changing priorities.
  • Superior attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
