DeMayo Law Offices is seeking a Subrogation Specialist to be responsible for validating settlement liens asserted by the health and disability insurances of our clients. Identify, manage, and resolve subrogation claims to maximize the recovery of our clients and ensure their continued stability with insurances, all while abiding by the applicable ethics, federal laws, and state laws.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review personal injury claims, identify potential rights of reimbursement held by health and disability insurances, and open claims as needed
  • Estimate the amount of a reimbursement that would be needed satisfy existing or pending subrogation claims
  • Review ledgers and itemized payment logs to ensure accuracy, and dispute unrelated or invalid treatment
  • Develop relationships with subrogation companies and outside law firms while serving as a direct line of communication on personal injury and workers’ compensation claims
  • Review workers’ compensation liens for validity and prepare third-party distribution orders
  • Work with attorneys to negotiate a reduced payment toward liens asserted against clients’ settlement proceeds
  • Maintain a working knowledge of online portals and other technologies developed by Medicare, Medicaid, and private subrogation companies to aid with the processing of claims
  • Keep abreast of new rules and procedures as they apply to subrogation claims

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; however, a combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered
  • Two years’ office/clerical experience required, preferably in a legal, medical or insurance setting
  • Prior experience with Litify or other CRM software preferred
