The Institute for Justice—the National Law Firm for Liberty—seeks a motivated detail-oriented Communications Intern to assist with a variety of tasks during the summer for our renown communications team.
Interns not only get an inside look at how a nonprofit works with media across the country, they also gain valuable experience in a fun, fast-paced office environment that fights to protect Americans’ civil liberties every single day. Interns assist in fighting government abuse and overreach by helping our team with tasks such as:
Monitoring and collecting news clips for our archives;
Researching media contacts for our various cases and projects;
Managing databases related to media outreach;
Drafting blog posts and other content for our website.
Interns are paid $15 per hour and are expected to work approximately 35-40 hours per week from late May to mid-August at our headquarters in Arlington, VA. We are flexible on the specific schedule though the intern’s time in the office should overlap with IJ’s core hours of 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Note that we are open to an extension of the internship work period through the school year, for the right candidate.
To apply, please submit a resume and a short cover letter on why you are interested in working at IJ.
IJ is an equal opportunity employer.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At IJ we value a diverse workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
