Full Job Description - Fully Remote position, must be available to work Pacific business hours.



We are a leading tax law firm in San Francisco looking for an experience CPA to partner with our Tax and Accounting Departments. The qualified candidate will be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with demonstrated experience successfully working with a wide range of clients in tax preparation and review, accounting, and providing advice and solutions to clients. We are a high-volume Firm looking for the right tax expert to join our collaborative, engaged, and productive team.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB


Under minimal supervision responsible for performing accounting functions with a heavy focus on complex tax return preparation and tax planning. Perform all work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and guided by firm standard operating procedures and within the limits of established policies and service level agreements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Responsible for accurate, efficient, and timely completion and/or review of Individual, Corporate, and Partnership tax return preparation.

  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.

  • Prepare, examine, and/or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

  • Conduct client calls and meetings to facilitate the exchange of information and documentation to support services.

  • File timely tax returns and extensions as appropriate.

  • Prepare documentation and reports for periodic client meetings.


ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS



  • Identify opportunities to expand the scope of services a client is using with the firm and engage internal partners to support expanding the client relationship.

  • Maintain positive working relationship with clients.

  • Capture all tasks and work performed in the firm's customer relationship management system.

  • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.

  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.

  • Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: Making suggestions for improvement and learning new skills, procedures and processes.

  • Is available for other duties as required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • None


QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or similar field of study plus ten (10) years of industry experience.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in good standing.

  • Seven (7) years of tax preparation experience with individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns.


LANGUAGE SKILLS



  • Read and interpret documents such as individual and business tax documents.

  • Read and interpret Federal, State, and Local tax codes and regulations.


REASONING ABILITY



  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, OR QUALIFICATIONS



  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in accounting concepts and theories.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in tax preparation.

  • Familiar with a variety of financial software packages such as QuickBooks and Intuit suite.

  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.

  • Computer skills: Enter data into firm tax and CRM software and systems. Work and be proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production.

  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and engage inter and intra-department peers and firm staff.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to touch, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
