Technical Advisor

The Dallas office of Baker Hostetler is recruiting candidates to fill a Technical Advisor position on the IP Patent Prosecution Team in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to work in a collaborative environment of an AmLaw 100 firm, servicing our sophisticated regional, national, and international clients. Requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Registration to practice before the USPTO is a plus, but not essential

Primary responsibilities include assisting patent attorneys with: 

• Meeting with clients
• Conducting patentability analyses
• Drafting patent applications
• Prosecuting patent applications
• Performing diligence related to patents

• Substantive industry experience
• Excellent drafting and research skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to convey complex legal principles clearly and concisely
• Strong analytical skills
• Mature judgment and experience handling confidential information with discretion
• Ability to identify issues and provide suggestions for day-to-day problems
• History of sharing information by using data and information to support an argument or point of view
• Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and effectively complete daily tasks
• A strong academic record
