We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position based on performance and business needs. This role is designed to covered for a leave of absence and offers a pathway to long-term employment for the right candidate.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing administrative support to litigation attorneys and paralegals as well as performing various legal functions which are overseen by an attorney. Primary duties include administrative and clerical tasks behind legal proceedings, including working with court administrators and judges, as well as law firm clients and staff, and other tasks including but not limited to:
Duties/Responsibilities:
� Managing all administrative phases of a litigation case including litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial, and appellate procedures.
� Preparing and filing pleadings with courts.
� Compiling motion packages for court filings.
� Monitoring case filings and providing detailed assessments to attorneys.
� Drafting, revising, and editing of legal documents including providing answers, discovery requests and responses, pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, and other pleadings.
� Drafting subpoenas and monitoring for compliance. Obtaining proof of service.
� Serving as liaison with clients including frequent personal interaction.
� Performing legal research of procedure rules relevant to court venues throughout New England and assure adherence thereto.
� Managing cases to ensure they are kept organized in the file worksite.
� Performing administrative and clerical tasks including but not limited to editing documents, proofreading, formatting, communicating with clients, opening and closing files, organizing firm files, conducting conflict checks, calendar coordination multiple attorneys, and general administrative support for attorneys.
� Performing other related duties as required or assigned, some of which may be essential to the position.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
