Patent Agent

The Dallas office of Baker Hostetler is recruiting candidates to fill a Patent Agent position on the IP Patent Prosecution Team in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. The qualifications for this role are as follows: 

Requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Electrical Engineering
• Must have at least one year of law firm experience
• Interested candidates must be registered to practice before the USPTO

Primary responsibilities: 

• Meeting with clients
• Conducting patentability analyses
• Drafting patent applications
• Prosecuting patent applications
• Performing diligence related to patents

• Strong substantive industry experience
• Excellent drafting and research skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to convey complex legal principles clearly and concisely

• Mature judgment and experience handling confidential information with discretion
• Ability to identify issues and provide suggestions for day-to-day problems
• History of sharing information by using data and information to support an argument or point of view
• Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and effectively complete daily tasks
• A strong academic record
